In electronic music, Martin Gerard Garritsen, better known by his stage name Martin Garrix, is a Dutch electronic music producer who has established himself as a significant force in the business. Earlier this year, he performed as the main headliner at Exodus, spinning the main slot at Omnia, arguably one of North America's largest and best clubs. People flocked to Exodus to see this young DJ perform his music, and it was one of the most successful nights at the club. Even though he is still young, many people are surprised by his level of success. However, once you get to know him, this isn't surprising at all.
Martin was only eight years old when he first caught a glimpse of Tiesto DJing at the Olympics on television. He grew up surrounded by music since his mother was a classical pianist and his father was a guitarist. When he first heard the dance music, he was immediately hooked. He began saving money for his first DJ setup while also DJing for his parents' friends, weddings, and other local events to help pay for it. He was 13 years old when he played his first show in an Amsterdam nightclub.
Following the success of his remix of Christina Aguilera's "My Body" in 2012, he was approached by Spinnin Records and signed a recording contract with the label. He spent the rest of the year working in the studio at night while continuing to live his typical adolescent life during the day. His career took off in 2013 when the song "Say Something" was released, which is the song that we all know and love.

"Animals" debuted at the top of the charts in the United Kingdom and eight other countries. Incredibly, he had initially written the melody for that song when he was 12 years old, and he knew he wanted to do something with it, so he just kept it.
In the following years, he released music with artists such as Jay Hardway, Firebeatz, Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike, Sander Van Doorn& DVBBS. He collaborated with artists such as Afrojack and Ed Sheeran, among others.
Martin Garrix has now established himself as a leading figure in the world of electronic music. We are witnessing his sound continually improve and evolve, just as we are witnessing the sound of many other artists. Some new non-house releases, the launch of his record label, STPMD RCRDS, and a brand new deal with Sony Music International, which was signed in July, have all marked the year 2016 for the producer.
